Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park
Proposed Conceptual Design for Facility Development

Updated: Dec 31, 2009

Between March 2 and April 30, 2009 Albertans were invited to share their feedback on the proposed conceptual design for facility development at Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park.

Lesser Slave Lake Provincial Park is located on the east shore of Lesser Slave Lake, north of the Town of Slave Lake.

The draft conceptual design addresses facility upgrades and expansion in the park in light of Alberta's growing population and increasing recreational demands. The draft conceptual design was developed to fulfill the following objectives:

  • Address facility expansion and upgrades in the main facility areas of the park;
  • Create a strong park identity; and
  • Create stronger linkages between facility areas.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on the draft concept design. Valuable input was collected during this public consultation process.

The Alberta Parks Division has reviewed all of the information gathered from public feedback. Please take a look at 'What We Heard'.

Based on public feedback, the following changes to the draft concept have been made:

  • Closure of the Beach Road will not be considered at this time.
  • A campground will not be developed at the Devonshire Beach parking lot.

Over the next two years, upgrades to the Devonshire Beach viewing platform will be made to ensure accessibility for all park visitors.

If funding becomes available, larger projects included in the park's concept plan such as the North Shore campground may be considered.
