When planning your field study, allow 4 hours to thoroughly complete all the activities in the program.

GRADES 4 - 6

ORIENTEERING (All year) Map reading directs the students through an eight marker course set within the grasslands and riverine forest. A brief activity at each marker allows the students to learn about some of the plants, animals and cultural history of the valley. This program supports the physical education and social studies curricula.

Fish Creek: The Land, Histories and Stories (September and October and May and June) This full-day program will introduce students to the roles and importance of Alberta's Parks and Protected Areas through a series of hands-on and discussion-based activities. Pre, post, and field-study activities allows students to discover a sense-of-place and develop positive attitudes, knowledge, and understanding of their role within the parks network. This program supports the social studies curriculum for Grade 4 Alberta: The Land, Histories, and Stories.
