"Parks and Protected Areas Division is committed to preserving and protecting, in perpetuity, provincially significant landscapes. These include representative and special natural or cultural landscapes and features. Also included are landscape-related prehistoric and historic resources of the province. These resources are integrated into a system of parks and other protected areas.

The specific preservation objectives for Fish Creek Provincial Park are as follows:

  • to ensure wildlife habitat and species within the park are managed and protected on a sustainable basis
  • to manage and protect the natural vegetation of the park
  • to protect the features that are representative of the Parkland and Grassland Natural Regions
  • to actively maintain biological diversity within the park
  • to allow natural processes to operate in the management of Poplar Island, Raven Rocks and the Heron Colony
  • to protect special areas including the geological formations and native grasslands
  • to ensure the integrity of natural water courses and springs are maintained"
