Living With Coyotes

For many park visitors, spotting wildlife is a highlight of their visit. Although there are no guarantees, here are some techniques that will improve your chances of seeing some species.

  • Visit the park early in the morning or at dusk, when more animals are active, searching for food or a nighttime resting spot.
  • Visit immediately after a period of inclement weather, also a time when animals are more active. During heavy rain or snowfall, many species seek shelter and wait out the storm.
  • Select quiet areas instead of the main through-path. These areas may have more animals that are active, not hiding.
  • Walk quietly, stopping frequently to listen for animals moving through the plants and trees.
  • Be familiar with where particular animal species live.
