Is Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park open to the public?

Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park was established in 2006. Why did it take so long to open the park?

  • A lot of time and effort was needed to conduct environmental, historical, engineering, park access, and visitation studies, as well as to develop appropriate public programming.

What does Glenbow Ranch offer visitors? Is there camping in the park?

  • The park will help meet a growing demand for nature education programs and offers new walking and biking paths. There is no camping in Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park.

What does Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park protect?

  • Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park protects a spectacular natural landscape, including 14 kilometres of Bow River shoreline between Calgary and Cochrane. The area performs a valuable role in our ecosystem, providing clean drinking water for the City of Calgary, and preserving significant areas along the Bow River.

Are there any special programs offered at Glenbow Ranch?

  • Guided tours of the park are available. Registration is required.

Will the trails at Glenbow Ranch connect Calgary to Cochrane?

  • The east-west artery trail will provide access to the edge of the Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park. We are working closely with the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation, the Town of Cochrane, the County of Rocky View and the City of Calgary to identify safe and appropriate access and connections to the park.
