2002 Alberta Sport Plan
The 2002 Alberta Sport Plan titled: A New century for Amateur Sport:
from Participation to Excellence was prepared by the Alberta Sport Plan Task Force with the vision:
"to make sport a vital component of Alberta's legacy, growth and lifestyle."
The 2002 Alberta Sport Plan had 10 areas of emphasis, 19 Priorities Actions, 65 outcomes and 180 total actions.
Resulting action for the 2002 Alberta Sport Plan includes:
- Creation of the Alberta Sport Development Network and expansion to 7 regions
- Creation of the Alberta Sport and Recreation Leadership Summit held biannually
- Over $280 Million invested in the Community Sport and Recreation infrastructure Program in 2007-09 and 2008-09
- Creation of Own the Podium program supporting Alberta's High Performance athletes
